I'm Christine (Cris) Luu (she/they), known professionally as Ariyassa. I'm a queer game composer for adventure games and RPGs in the San Francisco Bay Area, and I am here to soundtrack your stories!
My work tends to blend piano and orchestral elements with the more modern sound of synthesizers to create interesting musical textures that float between the realms of piano orchestral, retro future, and modern electronic music.
If that sounds like a good fit for your project, let's connect and start the conversation!
My sound is directly inspired by my favorite video game and film/tv soundtracks. In the video game music world this includes Kingdom Hearts, Chrono Trigger, Transistor, Scarlet Nexus, Hollow Knight, Citizen Sleeper, NieR: Automata, and Final Fantasy. Outside of game music, I also draw inspiration from the vibrant worlds, stories, and music found in anime, including that of Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind and Akira.
My composing inspirations include Yoko Shimomura (Kingdom Hearts, Final Fantasy XV), Darren Korb (Transistor, Hades), Joe Hisaishi (Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind, Castle in the Sky), and Yoko Kanno (Ghost in the Shell, Wolf's Rain).
