I’m Cris (Christine) Luu, based in San Francisco. I'm a music producer, composer, and sound designer with backgrounds in classical piano and electronic music production. I love to blend the two to create epic soundtracks, visual soundscapes, and emotional musical stories that incorporate both traditional instruments (pianos, orchestras) with modern electronic production (synths, sampling, and general sound mangling).
I mostly write music for games, and release my own music under the moniker Ariyassa. Before switching to a career in audio I worked in tech as a software engineer and technical lead for nearly a decade, and occasionally put my developer and project management hat back on as needed.
If you’re interested in working with me, don’t hesitate to reach out!
I have an eclectic mix of influences, ranging from video games and film scores to prog rock to jazz to drum & bass. My typical musical palette tends toward dark cyberpunk sci-fi, dreamy ethereal Ghibli or epic anime prog rock vibes, but I’m always exploring and experimenting with new textures and genres.
My biggest composing influences include Yoko Shimomura (Kingdom Hearts 2, Final Fantasy XV), Joe Hisaishi (Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind, Castle in the Sky), Darren Korb (Transistor, Hades), Vangelis (Blade Runner), and Lena Raine (Celeste, Chicory). Influences outside of film and games include Rush, Chick Corea, Depeche Mode, The Glitch Mob.... and many others.
